Tapestry Institute
  Our Website

When you first visit our website, you will, most likely, want to know what the “bottom line” is:  who we are, what we do, why we do it, and how you can get involved.  We have the answers to those questions on this site. But we also have much, much more.

Tapestry operates out of Indigenous worldview, which is how Indigenous people think about, explain, and respond to the world.  Our website has been created, organized, and written within that worldview.  This means you will learn about the meaning and importance of the Sacred Circle and how it relates to our work.  You will learn about the ways of knowing we use, and why the land is so important to our work.  You will see photographs from some of our events and read comments by some of our partners and participants.  You will read text that includes the language of story and vision and experience.  You will learn in a way unique to modern Western culture about who we are, what we do, why we do it, and how you can get involved.

In case you get a bit confused or frustrated, we have created a page that gives you "just the facts." But I would urge you, instead, to take the time to really experience the rest of the site. Learn about the Circle, look through our photo albums, read about our past projects before jumping to a page that will give you easy, short answers to the questions you ask.  Doing it this other way, the Indigenous way, will give you a much fuller experience.

This website is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to seeing what our work truly entails.  So please enjoy exploring it and then join us as we reconnect people to the natural world!
